ART-ifact?

I've always been fascinated with the art of the Mayans and was eager to create something in their iconic style. This charming fellow may have been a celebrated warrior in his village. To make him I started with a 12X12" canvas then added texture medium to create the stonelike appearance. After the texture medium dried, I applied a watery layer of black acrylics, wiped the excess off, applied a burnt sienna color, wiped it off, and then a darker red/brown, and wiped it off. The result is a very believable stone-colored surface. The image itself was drawn directly onto the canvas with charcoal pencil. Now all I have to do is seal it with fixative. I think this could be the first in a series of "stone" drawings inspired by ancient civilizations...Egyptian, Celtic, Prehistoric...
