Hurricane Update and a Journal Peek....

Matthew has come and gone and I'm relieved to report that we had no major damage here at Arching Oaks...a real blessing considering the number of old trees on the property. We spent a few days collecting a gazillion small branches and tangles of Spanish moss and twigs, but other than that, no big troubles.  We didn't even lose power.  If we lived closer to the coast I don't think we would have fared as well.  Thank you to everyone who check in on us to be sure we were ok!

While I haven't been tackling any large-scale art projects yet (we're still in "settling in" mode), I have had some opportunities to play in my sketchbook/idea journal.  These pages are not the pretty kind.  I tend to work over previous images or randomly throw down ideas as they emerge in my head. These are rough, unfinished ideas that may evolve into a future piece of art.  The last pic is one of Ava's creations that found it's way into my book... a cute little creature from her imagination, I think. Take a peek...

I'm really captivated by the idea of "ancient gatherings" and "bringers of gifts and offerings."
